Tenth Week in Perth, Australia:
This week happened to be a pretty rough week for me. I made a couple of unwise decisions that ruined a relationship with someone I cherished. The worst part is, I’m not even sure why it happened. I just need to keep reminding myself that everything happens for a reason, and if someone is not willing to accept me for my mistakes, then they don’t deserve my time.
Despite having had a rough start to my week, I made enormous progress in my uni assignments. I finished two extremely important assessments alongside completing research for my renewable energies course. I also made a few new friends that I have been looking to formulate plans with in the future. One of which seemed to have opened up to me and expressed personal discomfort with his struggles. It almost reminded me of when I would meet people in the past who had shared similar struggles and consequently developed a personal, unique connection.
This weekend, I plan to take it easy and continue to get ahead in homework. I may further decide to visit the beach on Sunday if I find a few friends keen enough to go. I’m also extremely wiped out from the emotional tole this week has had on me, so maybe I’ll use my spare time to catch up on some sleep. Next Monday, my friend, Leah, and I are taking a short trip down to Dunsborough to visit her friend, Cara, and explore Ngilgi Cave, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, and Shelly Cove. Hopefully we’ll be able to visit Sugarloaf Rock in time for a Western Australian sunset.

Favorite trip or excursion? Is there a secret spot only locals know? A landmark of personal significance to you?
My favorite trip/excursion I’ve had since being here in Australia is the week-long road trip I took to Coral Bay. The sights I observed were breathtaking, and the people I had met I actually formulated really close bonds to. Even though it was a long, sweaty, tiring adventure, I walked away from it with a new perspective of Australia and a slightly embellished sense of character. Now, every time I tell the locals about my trip to Coral Bay, they are all surprised by my willingness to adventure! Even they claim to not have visited those places. Even though I have gotten to experience wide varieties of culture and various other landmarks, I have yet to identify one landmark of personal significance to me. The only destination I could possibly narrow it down to would be Elizabeth Quay. This cultured city satisfies my desire for people watching and experiencing the lifestyles of nearby individuals. My former partner had also taken me there on a date and surprised me with beautiful pink roses! Elizabeth Quay is further home to the ferry transporting members to and from South Perth. All of these features together contribute to my love for Perth’s cultural presence.
