Seventeenth Week in Perth, Australia:
This week has been the literal representation of a wavelength curve. Sunday was phenomenal, Monday was crappy, Tuesday was fantastic, Wednesday could have been better, and now today is turning out to be a pretty triumphant Thursday. I suppose the primary factor driving this fluctuation is related to my forthcoming return home. I’m both excited to be seeing my loved ones and upset to be leaving this beautiful country, however, I’m also looking forward to the stories and people I’ll maintain following my departure. I have also been contacting home more frequently these past couple days, so that may also have an influence in the fluctuation I have experienced during this week. As of right now, I plan on maintaining a positive outlook and perpetuating an active attempt in making the most of my time left here in Perth.
Tonight, my mate, Sam, has invited me to accompany him to Judo. We should have a pretty exceptional time considering the class tends to be extremely energetic and accommodating to most skill levels. Hopefully my unfamiliarity with Judo and self defense doesn’t render me a complete idiot in front of all the other experienced Judo connoisseurs!

Your favorite or most interesting cultural experience while abroad?
I think my favorite cultural experience I’ve had while being abroad would be partaking in Perth’s more cultured, involved environment. At home, our town would host semi-monthly events during spring/summer months that revolved mainly around concerts, carnivals, and farmers markets. They happened to be extremely successful, however, they had also been targeted toward either teens or more mature crowds. Being a high school graduate, I never really had a phenomenal time attending any of my hometown’s events. In Perth, Curtin University attracts a large swarm of people in my same age range. The university therefore hosts a plethora of events accommodating both the lifestyles and cultures of these individuals, including foreign cuisine nights and successful celebrations. These, in addition to partaking in other non-native activities organized by my international peers, are some of the most interesting cultural experiences I’ve acquired while being abroad.
