Eighteenth Week in Perth, Australia:
My final week in Australia! It seems unreal to believe that the past five months I have both completed a semester of college AND partook in several adventures across the world. Soon enough, I will be back to the comfort of my friends, family, and familiar climate.
At the beginning of this week, I spent my time in the library studying for my Engineering Programming final exam. Following the cessation of the exam, I felt pretty confident despite having been confused on two of the five questions. I did, however, ensure to scribe a few key concepts that would reward me with modest partial marks.
The completion of my last final exam also commenced the beginning of my summer holiday! These first few days were spent saying goodbye to my international mates, partaking in last-minute adventures, and packing for my long journey home. I must admit; my entire thought process prior to packing for home had revolved around denial. It didn’t feel as though I was going to be leaving Perth until the morning prior to my departure. I even started crying at the gym! Even the mere occurrence of me balling my eyes out had never even crossed my mind five months (or even three weeks) ago. I suppose now I have to veer my focus away from leaving the beautiful people and scenery I’ve come to love and look forward to being reunited with my family.

Who inspired you to go abroad? Who helped you get abroad? Who do you want to thank?
One of my most profound inspirations for going abroad would have to be my coworker, Debbie. She had initially engrained the concept of studying abroad into my head by relaying stories of her relative’s former travels across Europe. She had also repeatedly projected her passion for traveling, and how she desires to have done more of it as a young adult. However, the primary individual that had helped me to study abroad would have to be my grandfather. He had always been the one to motivate me towards achieving my goals, succeeding in school, and assisting me in transcribing my dreams into reality. In regards to my semester abroad, my grandfather had purchased both of my plane tickets, my student visa, AND ensured I was financially stable. Not only did he provide me with financial security, he had also supplied weekly words of encouragement, prayers, and updates as to how he was doing at home. Without his support and constant assistance, I could honestly say I am not sure how I would have survived studying abroad. I am immensely thankful for having him have been a part of my journey and I look forward to paying him back upon graduation.
That being said, I would like to thank both my coworker, Debbie, and my grandfather. I would further like to thank my parents and siblings for continuing to remain in contact with me during unexpected obstacles at home. Finally, I would like to give an enormous thank you to my cousin, Jay, and his wife, Vivien. They too had provided me with accommodation, nutrition, transportation, and incredible adventures during my stay abroad. In the future, I too hope to repay them and reunite down under!
