Third Week in Perth, Australia:
It’s the end of my third week here, and I’m starting to feel a little homesick. I’ve learned that in the moments I tend to miss my family the most are the moments I’m relaxing in my room or working on homework. At NAU, this would have been the instant I would pull out my phone and call my family, however, now I’m on the opposite side of the world and their clock reads fifteen hours behind mine. Not only does this make it difficult to contact my family, but I also can’t charge up our phone bill calling/FaceTiming internationally. I guess for right now I’m going to have to learn to cope with being away from home and embrace the freedom of studying abroad.
Another reason why I might be getting excessively homesick is because I haven’t really done many eventful activities recently. None of my flat mates or friends have been going out much, so I’ve been stuck sitting in my room and catching up on my studies. This weekend, though, I’ll be meeting up with some of the residents from my complex and visiting Adventure World! Supposedly it’s the Australian version of a Disney Land or Magic Mountain in the United States? I guess I’ll have to go and see for myself! Nevertheless, it should be a pretty fun time. Hopefully meeting new people and feeding my adrenaline craving will get my head out of this unfortunate funk.

What does your university/classroom look like?
My university here is beyond breathtaking. Each day I walk onto campus, I can honestly say I fall in love with the abstract art and colorful community. The campus beams with modern establishments, intense greenery, and vivid ornaments. The classrooms here also have a modernized flare, including eye-popping color schemes and notable scenic views. Lecture halls, however, do not feature the fancy furnishings of smaller classrooms and resemble the lecture halls featured at NAU.
